Same old sameold

Well, just as is typical during adaptation my schedule is thrown off once again. Poor napping conditions are hindering my ability to feel like anything I could call "adapted", but at least I'm not failing.

Naps on time, or 10 minutes late/early to try to deal with social changes. Core overslept a few times, but not more than one rem. Sticking to it is the plan.

Oh, and how about this. A beautiful model that has been doing uberman for almost 5 months. And like most people who discover polyphasic sleeping is a bit of a geek.

Mehlert

Been going pretty normal as far as oversleeping and dozing off goes, but also normal in that I get more time without being more tired. I was hoping this would be a better adaptation after having done it a few times, but I was given an anti-allergen that I didn't know would make me sleepy, so after naps it would take several hours to shake off sleep. It was horrible and I'm sure I dozed off for a few minutes in between naps, but I stuck with it and that's gone away.

I normally nap at 11pm and core from 4-7am, but I slept 3 hours at my 11pm nap, so what I usually do is just start a nap 20 minutes before core ends and continue as usual. I've done this twice before both during and after adaptation and it doesn't seem to mess anything up. Anyway, it's bad that I overslept but good that I only slept 3 hours without an alarm, so it shows I'm on track.

Sticking with it, since there's no reason to quit.

This just in...

Update and report on naps.

Evening nap (18:00) yesterday went well. I slept a short period, though not as deeply or quickly as the morning nap.

The night nap (23:00) I didn't sleep at all because I made the mistake of lying on a bed so my body thought it was time to ruminate over the days proceedings and take 30 minutes to go to sleep.

Core started 20 minutes late because someone on IRC asked a very interesting CS question and I just had to answer, so I put my core end alarm 20 minutes later too.

Feeling a bit sleepy, but nothing like I would feel if I slept only 3 hours monophasically.

I think I'm going to have to adapt to 4 meals a day again. It's just too hard to make it through the night without getting hungry.

We're back.

I'm in India for a few months, and I decided on a whim to try polyphasic sleep again while I was here. Everyman3, with sleep scheduled at 4-7, 12, 18, and 23. I wrote a quick schedule here with how long I'll be awake each time so I can see how balanced it is, and an alternate schedule for a friend that works better for him, plus allows me to check up on him.

I got 6 hours of sleep last night in preparation. I was planning on 8 hours but I was kept awake by miliaria (heat rash), and due to my grogginess I think I woke up a bit early during N3 sleep in the morning.

First nap was great. I laid down and almost immediately felt the familiar twinge of losing consciousness. I still have it! I slept from approximately 12:08 to 12:15 (guessing, since I didn't take my eyemask off). I stayed there until the alarm went, and now I don't have the grogginess of this morning.

I'm not as sure about being committed to this attempt as the previous ones because I don't have pressing matters, so we'll see if I'm still enjoying it as much in 3 days. :P
